Project GEM has brought structure and logic to chaos. The support and actual ‘hands -on’ approach has massively improved, not only the P&L, but the tidiness and order on the shop floor. The coaching of our shop floor management team has been invaluable in helping them develop, but also, they now recognise the need to change the culture of the business. Success is now within our grasp!!

The way the team has become one is staggering, they now think as one daily and work towards daily targets together. Before this programme Production, Engineering and Technical not forgetting support functions and external suppliers worked on their own with no communication between departments. Through this programme Leighton Williams Associates kept us on track, engaged and mentored our people made it fun and supported us with the change in our thinking which was needed.

It was the first time that we interacted as a group of people working together in implementing the daily improvements needed. A 90 day plan was developed with the aim of improving RFT while deepening each individual's learning needed to deploy an Operational Excellence programme. LWA made this programme engaging and simple and it made us realise how important it is to plan, align and work together supported by the daily management processes.

Many improvement efforts are focused on the tools and techniques, for example change over optimisation, line speed increase or optimisation of automation. This programme puts equal focus on Management Processes and Mindsets & Behaviour needed to sustain improvements. As these have often not been in scope for other improvement efforts here in Tata, this has delivered the biggest change needed for us as we need to keep developing our people with a common purpose that result in continuous improvement.
